Early Occupant Identification

An early user identification is crucial to provide vehicle occupants with a distinct personalisation experience. Early Occupant Identification applies pose estimation to a vehicle’s maneuvering cameras. With the resulting pose information over time, a gait analysis is conducted to reveal the identity of any approaching person. This information is distributed within the car, so that the approach and entry can be personalised. The work has been teased as part of the Audi grandsphere concept (see video). A patent on this idea is pending (see application).
